A Spellbinding Celebration Across the MAT: Harry Potter Day Magic!
Across New Bridge MAT, schools were swept into a whirlwind of wizardry as Harry Potter Day cast its enchanting spell. From bubbling potions to soaring broomsticks, the day was a dazzling celebration of imagination, creativity, and literacy.
At Hollinwood Academy, the atmosphere was electric as students stepped into the magical world of J.K. Rowling. Pupils crafted their own spells and potions, explored the author’s life, and brought English lessons to life with laughter and creativity. Teachers commented that the experience sparked a renewed passion for reading and writing across the school.

New Bridge School transformed into Hogwarts itself, with students and staff donning robes, scarves, and wands to become their favourite characters. Themed challenges, potion-making, and magical games filled the day with excitement. Every corridor echoed with joy as pupils embraced teamwork, imagination, and a touch of mischief—making the celebration truly unforgettable.

Samuel Laycock School delivered a full day of enchantment, turning classrooms into magical realms. Pupils brewed potions in forest school, explored magical plants in herbology, and designed house crests and wizarding adverts. From Quidditch matches to butterbeer tastings, every moment was packed with wonder. Students even created their own spells and acted out scenes worthy of the big screen—thanks to the incredible staff who made the magic come alive.

At Hawthorns, the transformation into Hogwarts was nothing short of magical. Staff and students dressed as their favourite characters—some of the grown-ups looked especially amazing! Jasmine and Blossom classes created fizzy potion bottles in Art, Beech class decorated wands and imagined their magical powers, and Sycamore class took turns under the Sorting Hat. Maple class reflected on how everyone is special, no matter their house. Pine class used iPads to gather ingredients before crafting spells, while Ash and Oak looked fantastic as little witches and wizards. Tulip class brewed creepy crawly potions, and some groups enjoyed the Lego Harry Potter film to round off the day.

Pathways celebrated their first-ever Harry Potter Day with a full magical transformation. Pupils and staff arrived in Hogwarts robes and were sorted into the four iconic houses. A workshop-style timetable immersed students in themed sessions including Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Charms, Music, and a celebratory Feast. A highlight was the enchanting Woodland Walk, where pupils crafted broomsticks from natural materials and built magical hideaways. The day ended with the House Cup ceremony—congratulations to Ravenclaw, who earned an impressive 5,410 points!

Thomas Ashton School embraced the magic with a day full of creativity and cross-curricular learning. One group explored suspense in film through the first Harry Potter movie, linking it to their English work on narrative techniques. They also designed wands and imagined their favourite spells—then decided to watch the entire series as part of their film club! Another class took a deep dive into magical learning: writing predictions and reviews in English, calculating house-sorting probabilities in Maths, and reflecting on wizarding values in PSHE.
At Springboard Project, Harry Potter Day was a celebration of imagination and teamwork. Students designed their own versions of the Triwizard Tournament, crafting magical obstacles and challenges with flair and creativity. The day blended storytelling, problem-solving, and fun—leaving everyone inspired and spellbound.
From spell-writing to potion-brewing, face-painting to Quidditch, Harry Potter Day was a magical triumph across the MAT. The creativity, joy, and literacy-rich experiences brought smiles to every face and reminded us all of the power of imagination. Here's to many more magical moments to come!
