Day 3 – Strike a Pose... First Day at Ridgewood High!

During breakfast and before we left the hotel, you could feel the positive energy in the air as we were all very excited about our first day at Ridgewood High.

Wowwww, what an incredible welcome!! We were met by the Ridgewood brass band, playing our national anthem, as well as lots of Ridgewood staff and students waving and giving us a cheerful greeting.

The students enjoyed a workshop from special guest, Ms Kate Wirsema, where they got to develop and showcase their short form improv skills.

After lunch, the students were put in small groups where they researched improvisation (performance and jazz). They then presented their findings to each other in the form of a rap, fairy tale, pantomime, storytelling and musical theatre. Moreover, one of the groups included BSL and ASL.

Well done, all, the performances were amazing!

Today, we had an early dinner at the hotel as we visited iO Theatre, an improvisation theater center in central Chicago. We met Ridgewood at the theatre, where both students and staff enjoyed two acts of improvisation, based on stories and monologues of a special guest host... Ridgewood’s very own Mr Smith!
