CEO Blog - 15.5.26

Happy Friday, everyone

I have a few things to mention this week from right across the MAT.

Firstly, I want to highlight the work we've been doing on peer reviews.

Over the past term, our two most recent peer reviews at Spring Brook Academy and Thomas Ashton School have once again highlighted the strength of collaboration and shared purpose across our Trust.

Colleagues have engaged openly and professionally, offering thoughtful challenge, celebrating wonderful practice, and working together to identify meaningful next steps for improvement.

This collective commitment to reflection and continuous development is a real credit to everyone involved.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all staff who contributed their time, expertise and honesty to the process.

Your willingness to learn from one another and support each other is central to the continued success and improvement of our Trust and benefits all of our young people.

Moving on to workforce development, I want to start with a look at our School Based Initial Teacher Training.

We continue to support the next generation of Teachers with 31 trainees completing the final part of their school placements across our Trust and also partner schools.

We are always so grateful for the support we receive from across the region, namely the Kingfisher Learning Trust, Tame River Educational Trust and the University of Cumbria.

Recruitment for the Class of 2026 continues to move at pace with some exciting developments ahead. We continue to shape the future direction of Initial Teacher training by partnering with the University around the future of Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeships.

Further to this, we are excited by the range of opportunities available through the Apprenticeship scheme. We are offer exciting opportunities for our staff teams. Many staff are taking advantage of this to further their own development. Staff are currently engaged in or about to embark on a variety of Apprenticeship. These range from Customer Service,  Business Management, Leadership to Teaching Assistant.

The Professional Development Pathway is also taking shape where all staff will have access to foundational, proficient and expert levels of training offered by the Trust.

Also this week, I want to give a shout out to everyone at Future Finders. I had the directors meeting this morning and the outcomes and destinations are outstanding as a result of brilliant post 19 practices which are in place.

Elsewhere, some of the outstanding students at New Bridge College, following the Digi/Enterprise pathway, have achieved an incredible milestone this term. Last Friday, they competed against both mainstream and SEN peers from schools and colleges across the Oldham Metropolitan Borough in the annual Young Enterprise Showcase Competition—and they triumphed, being crowned Overall Oldham Business of the Year, alongside securing the award for Best Presentation.

This remarkable success is a true reflection of their creativity, determination, and entrepreneurial flair. At the time of writing, they are already taking on their next challenge, representing us in the Regional Young Enterprise Showcase Competition—and we wish them every success.

Finally, I want to wish all the best to our students and staff in the upcoming residentials, which include exciting destinations like Venice, Berlin, Disney and Haven! It's a busy old term the summer term!

Have a greet weekend, all

Clare
