As you may have already seen across social media, I am delighted to share that New Bridge School has been recognised with an Apple Distinguished School status and the MAT with a regional award for our ongoing work.
Hollinwood Academy has also been reaccredited with Apple Distinguished School status!
Thank you to all staff for the hard work and dedication that has gone into these achievements.
Each application film could only be 3 minutes long and had to focus on 3 areas, which were:
New Bridge School:
- Assistive technology and accessibility features that are changing lives
- Innovative approach to digital work placement pathway around video production
- Collaborative approach to app design with Apple in Chicago
Hollinwood Academy:
- Inclusive curriculum offer
- Transformative approach to assessment
- Supporting communication within the wider community for non-verbal learners
This week, I visited a couple of our sites, and it was great to see our children and young people back in the classrooms.
The first few weeks are always a period of adjustment, but it’s inspiring to witness the learning taking place again.
I’d like to highlight the fantastic start at Hawthorn’s new building.
The enthusiasm from our students is wonderful.
One parent shared a touching moment with me, saying that their child returned home beaming and saying:
“I just wanted to let you know that the first thing Sarah said to me coming home today was 'I love the new school'. Followed by a big hug and 'I love you mummy.’
As a family we can only imagine the literal blood, sweat and tears that have gone into making this happen. It's been a massive undertaking.”
This response is a testament to the extraordinary efforts from every team involved in this massive undertaking.
Thank you all for your hard work!
