One of our own, flying the flag…

This week, one of our Executive Directors, Shirley Woods Gallagher, had a piece published about preparing autistic students for the world of work.

You can read it here:

https://feweek.co.uk/slowly-layering-pre-work-support-for-send-students-is-vital-im-autistic-myself-i-know/

Many of our students, across the MAT, are on the autistic spectrum, and it is our job to help them prepare for the world after education, whatever that looks like for them.

For those who will be entering the world of work, there are things that employers can do to help the transition, some of which Shirley goes into in the article.

It’s well worth a read.

Of course, Shirley is speaking from lived experience, as she is autistic herself, so I encourage you to share the article and let’s see if we can encourage more employers to take proactive steps that help autistic students move into the world of work.

Have a great weekend all.

Graham
