CEO’s Blog – 3rd February 2023
Young Voices
The theme of my blog this week is ‘young voices’, for a number of reasons…
Firstly, it was great to see some of our schools represent New Bridge at the Manchester Arena, as part of the absolutely massive Young Voices Choir.
They did themselves, their schools and their families proud and I’m sure they were exhausted after what was a very long day!
Can I express my personal gratitude to the staff who made it all possible, going above and beyond to promote inclusivity and create opportunites that our children will remember forever.
Well done, everyone.
The photographs are a collection from Spring Brook Lower and Samuel Laycock.
I was actually sat at the Arena the night after watching one of my favourite bands Black Stone Cherry with our eldest daughter. One of our New Bridge team, Wendy, lent me a CD about 15 years ago – I was hooked – how time flies!
Young Voices is the name of the choir then, but it’s also something that we’re very big on here at New Bridge, giving our young people the opportunity to speak for themselves.
Pupil voice, as we often call it, is where the children and young people themselves, have the chance to discuss their education and opportunities, making suggestions for any changes they’d like to see.
One of the ways that we promote this is through Student Councils, and I know just how much of an active role these play in the way our schools are run.
This academic year even saw the establishment of the New Bridge College Parliament…
Over the coming weeks, I plan to provide an update on School Council activity across the MAT in my blogs.
I really have been inspired by the Young Voices posts from this week!
Whatever you’re doing this weekend, have fun and look after yourselves.
Take care
