CEO’s Blog – 16th December 2022

And just like that, we’ve reached the end of the Autumn term.

The time has come for us to take a little break, and to spend some much needed time with our loved ones.

As you’ll soon be able to see in the termly newsletters, this term has been packed full of experience, opportunity and learning, right the way across our MAT and wider Group.

Let’s take this opportunity to reflect on just how far we’ve come in the months since the beginning of the academic year in September.

We’ve reached targets, achieved milestones and smashed through plenty of glass ceilings…

…but there’s still so much more for us to achieve.

If we carry our enthusiasm into 2023, I have no doubt that we’ll get there together.

This is also the time of year when we think about those who have passed away, and who we can’t celebrate Christmas with this year.

2022 has sadly been a year where we have lost several dearly loved people from across New Bridge.

We have lost young people in Zachariah, Aysha and Casey, as well as a staff member in Michelle, and a Trustee with Joan.

I would like to wish their teachers, support workers, colleagues, families and friends all the strength in the world at what could be a difficult time ahead.

As you’ll have seen in reflections from those who knew them, the impact these individuals had on the people they came into contact with at New Bridge was immense. This is why we all feel the loss, and share in the message of support for those closest to them.

Let’s honour their memories by continuing with the excellent work we do.

To our families out there who may be struggling, can I once again remind you to speak to school staff, who will signpost you to channels of support.

With the ongoing cost of living crisis, we recognise that this will be up there with the most challenging Christmas periods ever, for many people. Please don’t suffer in silence.

We finished the term with celebrations, Christmas breakfasts, Christmas shows and even with visits from the big man himself.

I was also delighted to share the news with Activ 8 at New Bridge College, that they’ll be heading to Chicago in May. It’s fair to say that they’re a little excited.

Finally, can I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Let’s look ahead to 2023, and the next chapter of our journey together.
