Remembering Joan Readyhough

 Joan Readyhough
13th May 1932 – 22nd October 2022

In recent months, I have been using my blog to celebrate the achievements, learning and experiences of our children and young people throughout the MAT and Group.

Today though, I want to reflect on the fact that none of this would be possible without the dedication and hard work that goes on behind the scenes from our outstanding team of Governors, Directors and Trustees.

This week, we said goodbye to Joan Readyhough, who has been involved with New Bridge from the very beginning.

A group of representatives from New Bridge attended Joan’s funeral, where Chair of Trustees, Steve Williams, gave a heartfelt and passionate speech, summing up how we all feel about Joan.

Joan was Deputy Chair Trustee, giving her time and energy to guide us on a journey to the be the best Trust that we can be.

As part of that journey, Joan was previously Vice Chair of Governors at New Bridge School and built up a huge amount of experience in the social care and voluntary sector.

Before retiring, Joan was an area manager within the social care team in Oldham showing her enthusiasm for looking after people.

As a local community activist, Joan led on a number of associated housing renewal grants, helping some of the most vunerable people in our communities.

Joan was always active within the local area committee and had a passion for supporting families and clients from challenging backgrounds.

The world is worse off without Joan, but her legacy is formidable.

The thoughts of everyone at New Bridge are with those who loved Joan the most.

We will miss her, but we owe it to her carry on the journey she helped to get going all those years ago.
