We are looking for our next CEO…

CEO’s Blog – Student Voice (24th February 2023)

CEO's Blog - Student Voice (24th February 2023)   A few weeks ago, before the half term break, I said I would be reporting on how we listen to the Student Voice across our MAT and wider Group. Well, this week, I'm able to do just that, as some of our schools and...

Chicago Day 14 & 15

Well it finally arrived – our very last full day in Chicago and we were determined to fit in as much as possible!

We were joined by Gilbert for Breakfast and then we headed over to the Field Museum – Chicago’s natural history museum! We had a fab time exploring mummies from Egypt and the worlds largest Dinosaur remains – known as Sue!

After lunch at the museum we then went over to the Shed Aquarium. With over 20,000 animals we had an amazing time seeing the penguins, seals, so many fish and even a dolphin show! We also experienced a 4D documentary about octopuses! It was superb!

As we left the Aquarium, Mr Bright interviewed some of the students with the Navy Pier in the background. He simply asked them their favourite thing about the trip… whilst we had ‘Moulin Rouge, it was Euphoria!’ and ‘Pizza!’ overwhelmingly, the students talked about their new friendships made with students at Ridgewood High School! Long may they continue beyond this trip and we are certainly planning for more collaborative work with Ridgewood in the future! We just love them all!

For our final night, we had dinner in the hotel restaurant and were joined by our favourite new friends from Chicago! Gilbert – our tour guide, Anka – our driver, Karen – the hotel manager and Diana – who has been feeding us for two weeks at the hotel!

The students thanked them all and presented them with a gift and Mr Lyons made a speech and thanked them all for making our time here so memorable! They have all been wonderful. We also received a lovely card from all of the hotel staff!

So now, as we write this final blog, we have just had our staff awards ceremony after breakfast! Students took it upon themselves to create special awards for all of the staff! From ‘most motherly’ for Mrs Joubert to ‘Best Dancer’ for Mr Bright, it was such a lovely way to end our trip.
