We are Creative…
We are Innovative…
We Collaborate…
At New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, we are incredibly lucky to wok with children and young people in creative and innovative ways.
Learning across the Trust is collaborative, meaningful and very often, geared towards destinations for adulthood.
Facilitating these ‘pathways’ and learning opportunities are our highly skilled staff teams, who work tirelessly to maximise each settings’ offer for all of our children and young people.
As some of our students prepare for an exciting trip to Chicago, where they’ll collaborate with schools, students, businesses and industry professionals, we wanted to take a look at the creativity and innovation that takes place across the Trust as a whole…
This isn’t an exhaustive list, but it shows how these three values:
We are Creative…
We are Innovative…
We Collaborate…
…run through the life blood of our organisation.
Hollinwood Academy
Hollinwood Academy believe in the effective use of technology as a powerful tool for learning. That’s something that we, as a whole Trust, believe in too, but Hollinwood’s implementation of their technology has seen them become recognised as an ‘Apple Distinguished School’.
You can find out about their story here:
ADS School Success Story – Hollinwood Academy
Part of their effective use of technology means that teachers and staff regularly share the children’s learning via creative and innovative platforms, such as with Miss Woodhead’s Class, and the video about how their Autumn walk turned into a day of creative and crafty ‘Autumn Activities’.
Spring Brook Upper
At SBU, creativity is always on the agenda, and the students regularly ‘wow’ their teachers with their creations, models, writing and even inventions!
You can see one incredible piece of woodwork here, built in collaboration with the resident sculptor…
…whilst this blog entry documents how some other students have pledged to co-write a book with an author!
They came to this creative collaboration following a shared reading of her book:
‘The Rainbow Within’
You can read more about that here:
Spring Brook Lower
Miss Thomason regularly shares the creativity and innovation of SBL children across Facebook, but a recent trip to the Van Gogh Alive exhibition sparked off a real frenzy of artistic endeavour throughout the school.
After visiting the exhibition for themselves, the children came back to school full of inspiration and ready to create their own displays and exhibits.
You can read more about that here:
Future Finders
Several of our Future Finders take part in a regular placement at Oldham Library, where they are involved in a huge range of vital tasks and activities.
Their input facilitates the effective use of the library for hundreds of Oldham residents, and is a valuable contribution to wider society and the local community.
Collaboration within the creative world of literature…
You can read more about that here:
New Bridge Horizons
Everyone at Horizons enjoys getting involved with special days on the calendar, and Children in Need is always high on their priorities.
This last year, staff and service users worked together to produce a huge Pudsey Bear out of cardboard, that then went on a bit of a tour of the site!
You can read more about that here:
Through their collaboration with The Moulding Foundation, Horizons will soon be home to one of the best kitchens in any educational setting, meaning lots of creativity and innovation in the kitchen! Watch this space!
Hawthorns
From one day to the next, Hawthorns School is a vibrant and exciting place that inspires its learners to be creative and innovative. The school’s Twitter feed is always pinging with the latest updates from around the classes, such as with this bit of baking and biscuit making in Ash Class.
Every single day at Hawthorns is filled with creativity, from loose parts play in Forest School to innovative Attention Autism sessions, which take place on a daily basis.
Springboard Project
The various different pathways on offer at Springboard Project mean that students are able to take part in activities geared towards destinations. Amongst hospitality, sports, ICT and a range of other options, creative pathways such as music making offer students the skills and experience to express themselves creatively through collaboration with actual recording artists, from a genre they enjoy.
New Bridge School
Collaboration across a school the size of New Bridge School is not always easy, but the staff and students make it possible by using technology and innovation wherever they can. Shared learning experiences are facilitated by virtual gatherings, but good old fashioned ‘arts & crafts’ is alive and well too, as evidenced in this blog – ‘The Bee Blog’.
In response to the school’s new behaviour expectations, students created their own posters and responses around the theme of ‘bees…’
New Bridge College
Various collaborations with local organisations mean that students at NBC are given a range of opportunities to be creative and innovative.
On the Lumenus pathway, just one week took them to the different creative worlds of theatre, dance and docudrama.
You can read more about that here:
New Bridge Learning Centre
Before we get to be creative and innovative, it’s always a good idea to get out and about in search of inspiration.
Whether that’s from the countryside or urban places we live close to, or from trips to museums and art galleries, New Bridge Learning Centre are passionate about igniting the spark of creativity in their young people.
You can read more about that here:
As you can see, the commitment to our values:
We are Creative…
We are Innovative…
We Collaborate…
…is something that the whole Trust believes in.
These snap shots from across our sites offer a small insight into just how much fantastic work goes on, but the real picture is even more varied and interesting.
As we look ahead to the trip to Chicago, everyone in the Trust will continue to work with innovation and creativity, collaborating with friends and colleagues from within the Trust, as well as those from external organisations.
